Hadrian raises $40m to counter AI-driven hacking threats

Hadrian, a provider of an agentic AI-powered offensive security platform, has closed a $40m funding round to expand into new markets and strengthen its technical teams.

Forgepoint Capital International and SmartFin co-led the investment, with returning backers HV Capital, Motive Partners, Picus Capital and Oetker Ventures also taking part. The latest round lifts Hadrian’s total capital raised to $65m. The company plans to use the money to grow its presence in EMEA and the US, and to put more resources into its engineering and research functions.

The deal comes at a time when AI is reshaping how cyber attacks are carried out. Reports of AI agents breaking out of test environments and compromising corporate systems without human input have recently drawn widespread attention.

Hadrian’s platform aims to address this by letting organisations view their security posture from an attacker’s perspective. It maps a business’s digital footprint, uncovers risks and ranks what needs fixing first so teams can harden their external attack surface. People define the objectives and take the key decisions, while AI handles the work in between, delivering the round-the-clock coverage, repetition and speed that human teams cannot maintain alone.

The company claims to be the only vendor bringing continuous exposure management and agentic penetration testing together in a single platform. Its Atlas product constantly maps an organisation’s external attack surface and deploys specialised AI agents to confirm which exposures are truly exploitable. Its Nova product offers on-demand agentic pentesting that matches, and goes beyond, the standard of human testers.

According to Hadrian, customers using both have seen 10x greater visibility into critical exposures, 80% faster resolution times and a 5x return on investment compared with manual pentesting.

Hadrian CEO Rogier Fischer said, “Everyone can see that AI is changing the threat landscape. It might also hold the answer, but most people are focused on automating the wrong bits. We have been working with LLMs since before they went mainstream, and we know that AI can work much faster than any human offensive security team. So we built a platform that emulates hackers’ attack paths, helping our customers to understand their key risks and prioritise their security resources appropriately.”

Forgepoint Capital International managing director and partner Damien Henault said, “There are too many vulnerabilities and noise out there for teams to manage, so they need tools that can help them see clearly and think like AI-armed hackers. Hadrian’s AI native always-on solution delivers both depth and breadth and helps its customers to focus on genuine issues and risks, and the companies using its platform are testament to both its innovative approach and the strength of its team, both aspects which make them a natural choice for us to back.”
