ADAMS, Wis. (WAOW) — The Adams Friendship Area School District says it may have lost about $92,000 in what officials believe was a cybercrime.District officials said in a letter to families and staff that the bank notified them in August about an unusual payment request from a third party that had been processed by the business manager. The district immediately contacted law enforcement, legal counsel and its insurance provider to investigate. The district placed its business manager on administrative leave Oct. 16.Officials said the leave is not a determination of wrongdoing but allows the district to investigate the situation and review its business operations. The district is working with its insurance provider to recover the funds and a claim is being processed. Officials said they are limited in what information they can share while investigations remain ongoing but will provide updates as appropriate.
