Ride-sharing driver referred to cybercrime unit over misleading video: PSD | #cybercrime | #infosec

Amman, Oct. 11 (Petra) — The Public Security Directorate (PSD)
referred a ride-hailing app driver to the Cybercrime Unit over his
video posted Saturday from Queen Alia International Airport, PSD
media spokesperson said Sunday.

In the video, the driver sought to allegedly show unfair treated by a
traffic sergeant, claiming his trip was operated legally.

The spokesperson said an investigation committee began work
immediately to examine the incident by collecting information, and
reviewing camera footage and timestamps, who then summoned the driver
and traced his trips through the app.

The committee found the driver tried to mislead the public, who took
a passenger from Jabal Al Lweibdeh-Amman to the airport without
operating the licensed app, under a private agreement for JD20.

The spokesperson said the sergeant issued the driver a legal
violation for failing to show a trip on the app. The driver then left
the airport, opened a new trip, returned, and filmed and posted the
video to appear wronged.

The spokesperson said the driver was referred for the judiciary for
legal action over fabricating the incident and trying to defame
traffic police personnel by posting a misleading video.
