Community meeting highlights ‘Safe Passage’ school safety program | #schoolsaftey #kids #parents #children

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Neighbors and parents are getting to know more about a program that helps keep students safe after school, called “Safe Passage.”
A community meeting was held Tuesday at Franklin Street Baptist Church on Saint Stephens Road.
The program places police, firefighters and volunteers on the streets as students head home.
The program started at Williamson High School last year.
Local leaders say after-school incidents in and around campus have dropped since the program launched.
The meeting was intended to let people see what the program is about, hear from the community, and give them a chance to volunteer.
